Australia has one of the best health systems in the world. However, despite this, a significant percentage of our community are doing it tough – very tough. Over the last 20 years, health expenditure in Australia has more than doubled (that is, about 103%). During the same period real wage growth for working Australians has increased. This is just one of the factors that contribute to some Australians facing financial pressure when their health is compromised, and they need medical care. The Coronavirus pandemic, job losses and small business failures have made this challenge even more pressing. This is why the Jenny Souris Foundation exists – to give hope.
